Interzone report: October-November 2006

French version

Previous report of  August-September 2006

Next report of December 2006

For the new comers: The reports of Interzone contain the monthly activities of the members of the group in different domains. As we are about 400 people in the world, all different, the whole might appear at first sight as an incongruous medley. For more information on the subjects developed here, please refer to the previous reports since 1997 in the page Information on Interzone

"Pescu Nica " by Paul O'Donovan

 Hi all,

Sorry about the delay iun the sending of this report which gathers October and November events. I should have more free time next month.

Zone meeting in Amsterdam next year ?

Foe proposes a Zone meeting in Amsterdam for next year : he will be there then and wonders if other Zoners would dig the idea.

2007 with be the 10th birthday of Interzone, and this would deserve a celebration, does not it ?

As for me, I can plan to be there .  The only thing if we want to make it is that we have to book for hotel rooms in specific places some months before going there, as they are generally full up during the whole year.

Subtitles :
NORDVARGR vs. KENJI SIRATORI - Antimaterial: Tragedy Rom Creature
BEYOND SENSORY EXPERIENCE vs. KENJI SIRATORI - Substance : Sympathy Cell Waves

This will be for sure the more surprising release for 2006 in the ambient-dark-industrial field ! This 2 great scandiniavian dark-industrial projects leaded by MZ.412 members are here making an excursion in KENJI SIRATORI acid world made of encrusted blood & samen, made by all the information in the universe plus several bits from other dimensions !

KENJI is surely a madman, but if you scan his hallucinatory textual mashups in the right frame of mind, they all begin to make sense !!!

Kenji gave birth to a virulent amalgam of modern technology & illnes like a mix of Tetsuo the Iron Man & a modern version of William Burrougs cut-ups ! & his "Blood Electric" book was aclaimed by DAVID BOWIE !

On the 2 albums NORDVARGR & BSE are creating best dark ambients, for which both projects are very well reknown, to support Kenji vocals frames !

Japanese words disgorged by Kenji Siratori are here strongly entwined in the chaotic calmness of BSE's audio universe & in the deepest sounds born in the surgery of Nordavrgr's Villa Bohult ....

All songs are based upon the spoken prose by the uncompromising Japanese writer, creating a new fascinating depth in the musical experience !

The CD's come with an 80 pages exclusive book by Kenji Siratori, the whole inside a very special box !

Art-work designed by the super-designer & artist Paul McCarroll ! If you don't know his Art & works you really lost something !

Queer Factory is a French group of artists : musicians, performers, multimedia artists, writers, movie makers, etc. I went to the Mino DC http://www.mediaport.net/CP/Artichaud/Mino/Mino.fr.html  organized in August in his place and made some movies there.

Economy: SCOOP

Two new parts in the investigation "Black holes in market economy" http://www.geocities.com/clemsnide23/infi9.html :

- A retranscription of a program of France Culture:  8. " Le monde capitaliste aura-t-il sa glasnost ? Les normes comptables internationales " (France Culture, Le Bien Commun " 21/10/06, Antoine GARAPON, Nicolas VERON, Bernard COLASSE  http://www.geocities.com/reportersredacteursdinterzone/econona10.html which provides the information to understand the mechanisms of this economy and the actual rules the game is based upon, which are not presented as such in the maps and contracts:    ("Will capitalist world have its glasnost ? The international financial standards" ) . You can listen to the recording on line with Real Player at http://www.tv-radio.com/ondemand/france_culture/BIENCOMMUN/BIENCOMMUN20061021.ram

- A very interesting investigation by Paul O'Donovan on the consequences of those "new rules" in people's life, and actually on their application in the social cares in United Kingdom through the role of companies who now run the facilities management of the public services in European countries.:  9. " Infogérance et dérégulation des services publics : Pas vu pas pris, pris pendu ! "  http://www.geocities.com/reportersredacteursdinterzone/econona10.html  (" Facilities management and deregulation of public services : not seen not taken, taken hung ! " ) The exchange with Paul contains a description of the troubles he has been through during the past years and the documents concerning the contracts concluded at European levels with those companies.

This allows a better understanding of the actual consequences of the changes in economy, as well as the facts we state in our everyday life at different levels, which at first seem incomprehensible. As a result, we can include them in the structure which produces them.

As a result, it would be rather useful to gather more articles on it coming from different countries in the world: if you personally are having problems of this kind presently, in the frame of your job, health, as a client of public services, etc., your writings will be welcome as they will allow to compare the effects in different places. I shall add them in the site Reporters Rédacteurs d'Interzone http://www.geocities.com/reportersredacteursdinterzone/

Blogging

Dr Benway:

His site in My Space is at http://www.myspace.com/dr_benways_home

Joshua Berlow: The Cynicism of Diogenes

"I'm posting a book about Diogenes the Cynic as a blog. The book is entitled "Diogenes of Sinope" by Farrand Sayre, published in Baltimore in 1938. I went to the Copyright Office in Washington DC in person to find out if this work is in the public domain, and was pleased to find out that it is.

I think posting the book in this way works because there are many attributions in the body of the text. These attributions are linked to web pages about the person to whom the quote is attributed. In this way, the book opens one to the world of ancient Greek and Roman philosophers, as well as early Church writers that may have a different take on Christianity. The blog is entitled  "The Cynicism of Diogenes" http://cynic22.blogspot.com" Joshua Berlow.

 General semantics

A number of new pages in the site "Société francophone de sémantique générale: la sémantique générale pour tous" :

- General semantics and quantum physics : http://semantiquegenerale.free.fr/doc06.htm which contains links on chapters of Science and Sanity by Alfred Korzybski on Einstein's work and 3 videos allowing to understand what quantum physics is about, in English.

 - General semantics and economy: http://semantiquegenerale.free.fr/econona.htm

 - The page with the dates of the seminars http://semantiquegenerale.free.fr/seminaire.htm has been updated: it contains the planning of the seminars from December 2006 to May 2007. I am presently giving one which is being filmed in video.

Patricia Elliott : Women who met Burroughs quiz
"I have been collecting stories from women who met or who knew William. It has been interesting. So many assumptions about William don't jib with the William I knew but I admit that William was a man who I would only know part of.
When I first met William and we became friends, many people told me that I was decieved because William hated or disrespect women. I think that in some ways I felt he hated or disrespect sex but he engaged and responded to me as a person, more openly and directly than most of the guys I knew. One day, I was blue, we were sitting at his table, and he took my hand. After a moment, I was uncomfortable and tried to pull away. He held on, after another minute or two, I relaxed and we sat there drinking tea and holding hands. From that moment I was more aware that I should take my cues from him, of who was this man than what was said or surmised by people outside of his real world.
Yet I fell for histories again and again. I knew he was a different man from the man lost in junk, driven by passions. He was still the man driven by his imagination and perhaps remembered passions. I was told he was not charming and elegant to women until late in his life. I then met Mary Beach who knew him well in Paris and London. She remembered his elegance and warmth, and fire.
see snippetts of meeting at
http://www.whistlingwitch.com/albums/trip/marybeach/
I wish to come up with a set of questions to ask women, (men may answer them as well) Any suggestions or comments, quidance etc.
some questions: Do you remember when you met William? What were surprised about? Do you have a favorite story? Can you imitate his voice?
Thanks " Patricia
