Boa vista Atlantique Odyssée

Some news from the adventures of Jean-Louis, Chistian, Michel and Serge who have been sailing in the Caribbean sea since the end of March. They have been visiting a number of islands and sailed to the Bermudas. Now they are on the way back: after going up along US East coast, they will sail to the Açores. Vasha: On the road again:

I have had the visit of Vasha Dadaja http://www.myspace.com/vashadadaja , on the road from Lithuania to Morocco. It was great to meet again after some years : we first met in Belgium and Holland in March 2002, at Ruigoord where we went together (see the reports in Information on Interzone http://www.interpc.fr/mapage/westernlands/infzone.html ).

At the moment he is in Casablanca, after a visit to Joujouka, which, he says, was one of the greatest moment of his life. He will write an article about it.

Master Musicians of Joujouka Build Guest House

The Master Musicians of Joujouka are currently building a new guest house which will also serve as the musicians headquarters. When building is complete guests will be able to book room and board and sample the true Sufi music in its natural setting.

The guest house is being constructed by the musicians themselves in the traditional Joujouka style. It is located near the centre of the village and is a greatly anticipated local initiative. It will accommodate a small number of guests at one time. Final details to be announced soon.

General semantics and non-Aristotelian economy:

I am in touch with a group of researchers working on new economical bases and collective intelligence, who also refer to general semantics: see Jean-François Noubel's site at www.thetransitioner.org and his conference at the university of Limoges at http://www-tic.unilim.fr/article.php3?id_article=94 . It comes out that the work done in the frame of Interzone during the previous years on a non-A economy (see the articles on line in the page "A non-Aristotelian economy" http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Crete/9445/economy.html & http://semantiquegenerale.free.fr/econona.htm ) and theirs are following similar paths and step. We are going to meet soon and I shall keep you posted about the results.

"We had the privilege of participating in Sam Ash Music's weekly Live In-Store Recording Session program. we recorded a live version of "You Flew A Plane Into My Heart" in the middle of the store (customers and all). on this particular evening CNN's local addition filmed the procedings. keep an eye out for the piece, anyone who has timewarner should be able to see it on CNN or on-demand. it was a good time and the recording (what we've heard of it thus far) turned out much better then expected. big thanks to Irvo for calling in us for the occasion.

Balaikuda 12 string by Paul O'Donovan:
"You might be interested in one of my recent projects - to build myself a homemade musical instrument. To keep costs down I built it entirely from pieces of timber left over from other carpentry in my cellar workshop. Much was recycled from scraps of antique furniture...the neck frets I cut from the stems of a broken umbrella etc. 6 machine heads for winding strings were the only items I had to purchase. I ended up adding another bridge and six more strings, but had to carve toggle peg tuners for these. I exected the neck to snap or buckle once I began tensioning the steel strings (spare sets from my guitar) To my surprise, everything has held together, and even more surprisingly the instrument has a nice tone & playability. I feared I was attempting something over ambitious as I don't have the facilities & equipment used by professional instrument makers....but I am quite proud of the result.
